BERKELEY, Calif., Dec. 12, 2017 -- Legal technology company Everlaw today launched automatic transcription for audio and video files on its cloud-based ediscovery platform. The new features accelerate analysis of multimedia, one of the fastest-growing categories of litigation data and one of the hardest to manage in ediscovery.
In the past, litigation-support teams had to play back the entirety of each multimedia file or send those files to outside services for transcription, a process that could take hours for each file.
Using the power of the public cloud, Everlaw’s platform analyzes multimedia files as they are processed, quickly converting speech to text and creating transcripts that are easy to search, annotate, and navigate. Everlaw’s convenient built-in viewer synchronizes the transcript with multimedia playback so users can listen to audio files or watch videos while reading the copy.
“There’s a lot more to ediscovery than email,” said Everlaw CEO and co-founder AJ Shankar. “Videos, phone calls, and other recorded media, are generating huge amounts of data that legal teams need to understand just as well as any document. With Everlaw, transcription is automatic. No third parties. No worries about lost data. Everything is right there on the platform, ready when you need it.”
Everlaw’s latest update also includes the ability to upload documents directly from cloud-based storage services, such as Google Drive, Office 365, and Dropbox, eliminating the need for users to first save them to their hard drive and upload them again.
In addition to the features in the latest update, Everlaw also recently added tools for native spreadsheet redaction, directly in the browser, without the need for downloads, plugins, or additional file creation. This advanced toolset—the first native spreadsheet redaction functionality built directly into an ediscovery review platform—also automatically identifies dependent cells and will redact or replace them with their formulas or values based on user preferences.
All features, including multimedia transcription, are available now to all Everlaw users at no additional cost.
