Euroarea’s construction grows sequentially in November

Production in euro area’s construction sector rose in November. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the currency bloc’s construction output rose 0.4 percent sequentially, according to first estimates from Eurostat. On a year-on-year basis, construction rose 0.4 percent.

The sequential gain of 0.4 percent in construction output in the euro area was driven by civil engineering, which rose by 1 percent. Building construction also rose in the currency bloc by 0.3 percent.

Among the member nations, Slovenia and Slovakia recorded the highest increases in production in construction, recorded 9.4 percent growth and 5.7 percent growth, respectively. Meanwhile, decreases were seen in Spain and France, which registered a drop of 0.8 percent and 0.2 percent respectively.

The stable output in construction in the currency bloc on a year-on-year basis is because of civil engineering, which grew 2.2 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, building construction in the euro area dropped 0.6 percent. Among the member countries, the Netherlands recorded the highest increase of 7 percent, whereas Slovenia recorded the biggest fall of 15 percent year-on-year.
