Netflix's popular Spanish original may have only released on Netflix recently but it seems fans who have already had their fill of the show's eight episodes are now clamoring for news about “Elite” season 2. Thankfully for fans, Netflix has answered the call for the show's upcoming installment quickly.
Released for streaming on Netflix last Oct. 5, “Elite” revolves around the lives of three scholars given the privilege of studying at Las Encinas. What starts out as a simple coming-of-age story that tackles school bullying turns into a murder mystery, with a surprising cliffhanger setup for “Elite” season 2.
According to a report by Variety, the media streaming giant confirmed that “Elite” season 2 has been greenlit by the network. According to the announcement details, the upcoming installment will feature the same number of episodes as the first season and will be scheduled to launch sometime in 2019.
Fans looking forward to “Elite” season 2's return to Netflix but just cannot be satisfied by the occasional rewatch of the show's first season can also check out Netflix's other Spanish originals. Fans of the growing number of Spanish originals have Netflix's efforts to establish a European production hub to thank.
The Spanish originals that fans can binge-watch or expect from Netflix during the wait for “Elite” season 2 include the Bambu Producciones-produced “The Cable Girls,” which is already producing the show's fourth season. For a classic Spanish series that can be watched on Netflix but not necessarily an original series by the network, “Money Heist” already has two parts available for viewing on Netflix, with part three scheduled for release sometime in 2019.
Specific details about “Elite” season 2 and its actual air date have yet to be divulged. But considering that the show has yet to start production so soon after its renewal announcement, fans can potentially expect “Elite” season 2 to return to Netflix around October 2019 – the same period that the first season was released.
