‘Dragon Ball Super’ Season 2 Latest News Update: Series May Return After Break

“Dragon Ball Super’s” Universe Survival saga was epic, to say the least. The anime series seemingly ended with the restoration of all the universes that were erased during the saga, but fans knew there was more to come because Toei Animation never said they were going to wrap up the story. So when will “Dragon Ball Super” Season 2 come out?

Right now, nobody knows for sure. However, OtakuKart has reported that there is going to be a “Dragon Ball Super” panel at the annual Jump Festa this December. That means Toei will be sharing some new details regarding “Dragon Ball Super” Season 2.

As noted by OtakuKart’s Wamiq Fida, Toei didn’t end the series because they were running out of stories to tell. They had to do it because of the lack of adequate manpower.

“The real reason why they had to end the series was the fact that there was limited staff, and all the animators had to overwork to produce what they were producing,” Fida said. “This wasn’t healthy for Toei, and for the animators either. So, they went on to end the show. However, when Super does return, it is probably going to do so in an organized manner, where the staff doesn’t have to work as much as they do,” he added.

For now, “Dragon Ball Super” does have a sequel of sorts in the form of the movie “Dragon Ball Super: Broly.” The twentieth film in the franchise will be the first to use the “Dragon Ball Super” name, and it is supervised by series creator Akira Toriyama. “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” will hit the theaters on Dec. 17.

Of course, it should be noted that “Dragon Ball Super” Season 2 isn’t exactly a sure thing at this moment because Toei may decide to introduce a new “Dragon Ball” series instead.
