In a few weeks, it is going to be one year since the “Domestic Girlfriend” season 1 finale aired. It also means it has been that long since anime fans started waiting for any announcement regarding the production of “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2.

Domestic Girlfriend’ season 2 renewed or canceled?

The anime adaptation of “Domestic Girlfriend” is one of the rookie shows in 2019, but it has yet to join the list of those that have gotten a season 2 release for this year. However, despite the lack of any update about “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2, fans still flock to online platforms to voice their hopes of seeing the anime continue.

Unfortunately, there is just no official word to hang on to at this point that definitively says “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2 is happening. Even the producers and companies that licensed the anime adaptation of Kei Sasuga’s manga series have yet to tell fans if there is still a future for the show.

On the other hand, the manga series continues to thrive. In fact, the original series now seems to be getting close to the ultimate finale. The silence about “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2 could also mean that its release is not totally scrapped yet. With the manga seemingly ending before the year ends, it would not be surprising if the producers renew the show once the manga has concluded.

Domestic Girlfriend’ season 2 spoilers: It’s the start of Rui and Natsuo’s relationship

Anime-only fans rooting for Hina and Natsuo’s reconciliation should be prepared in not seeing this happen in “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2. While Hina and Natsuo got reunited in the manga, it did not lead to them getting back together romantically.

“Domestic Girlfriend” season 2 will most likely be about Rui being there for Natsuo as he grieves his breakup from Hina. In the process, Natsuo sees the good that Rui brings in his life and eventually falls for her, too.

Natsuo and Rui’s relationship is not perfect, even in the manga. But if the anime continues in “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2 and more installments, anime fans will see how Natsuo and Rui’s relationship is different and at a much healthier state than what he had with Hina.
