New Cumberland, PA, July 05, 2017 -- The U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) released on July 5 a solicitation in which it outlined plans to bring on a certified small business government contractor to replace all utility poles at DLA Distribution Susquehanna.
The contractor who receives the contract must provide all labor, materials, equipment, supplies, and supervision to perform the following work, according to the solicitation, and all work must comply with the specifications, drawings, and solicitation requirements.
According to the DLA, work will include:
- Removing approximately 25 existing wood utility poles and associated appurtenances and cabling throughout the installation
- Removing and replacing approximately 45 existing wood utility poles throughout the installation
- Relocating existing cabling to new poles and providing and installing new cabling as required to extend existing conductors to new pole locations
- Repairing any damage to pavement or grass areas that removing or installing any wood poles causes
- Furnishing and installing new pole name tags on all remaining wooden utility poles throughout the installation
The DLA expects the contractor who receives the contractor to complete the project within 240 calendar days of receiving the Notice to Proceed, and, according to the solicitation, anticipates the contractor to complete most – if not all – work between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The applicable NAICS Code for this procurement is 237130; the small business size standard is $36,500; and the DLA expects the work to cost between $250,000 and $500,000.

The contractor who receives this contract also must be registered with the System for Award Management (SAM) database and have as part of the Registration all current Representations and Certifications.
