The Czech Republic’s retail sales are expected to have rebounded in August after coming in weak in the previous month. The August print might reassure that consumers are still willing to spend their increasing wages. The relatively low figures were impacted by company-wide holidays in the main industrial sectors.
The fall registered in July is expected to be more than countered in August. The year-on-year retail sales growth, adjusted for cars, underpinned by seasonal factors, is likely to have accelerated to 6.1 percent. Following the slump seen in July, the volatile dynamics of car sales is expected to lead to a 14.2 percent year-on-year rise, stimulating the overall sales growth figures, according to Societe Generale.
