“Criminal Minds” season 14 premieres on Oct. 3 and it is an extra special start because the pilot marks the show’s 300th episode. As usual, the procedural drama picks up where it left off in season 13, when Spencer Reid (Matthew Grey Gubler) and Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) were kidnapped by the cult leader, Benjamin Merva (Michael Hogan).
Now, on the show having been on air for 13 years, showrunner Erica Messer revealed that they did not expect that their show would still be on television in 2018.
"The writers were sitting in a room in Culver City the first season and we didn't know if we had anything beyond 13 episodes, and then we got our back nine and we were like, 'Oh that's exciting!' And then we got our second season and that was exciting," the showrunner told Entertainment Tonight.
She went on to say, "By the time we got to our 100th episode, we knew there were still so many more stories to tell but 100 broke the mold for us in terms of the storytelling, where we really changed the hero's life forever.”
“Criminal Minds” season 14 episode 2 is up next following the pilot’s telecast. The next chapter is titled “Starter Home” and it will be shown on Oct. 10.
As mentioned on Episode Data, “Criminal Minds” season 14 episode 2 synopsis reads: “When the mummified remains of numerous victims are found in the walls of an elderly couple’s remote South Carolina home, Rossi, J.J. and Simmons are dispatched to track down a trail of clues that date back over 20 years.”
“Criminal Minds” season 14 episode 2 will show the BAU team running after the serial killer after they were able to figure out the pattern regarding the time when he strikes. They are moving fast because another victim is in danger.
Moreover, “Criminal Minds” season 14 episode 2 will also get a bit personal when David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) gets in touch with his wife, Krystall. They reconnect and what comes next is yet to be seen.
“Criminal Minds” season 14 airs every Wednesday at 10 p.m.
