IRVINE, Calif., April 17, 2018 -- Cosemi Technologies Inc., a global leader in innovative, high-speed connectivity solutions, today announced that its HDMI 2.0 active optical cables (AOCs) have been certified by the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) for 18Gb/s performance. Dedicated to improving the quality of electronic imaging, the ISF conducts extensive field and lab testing to ensure visually superior, color-rich images and stunning clarity.
According to Dr. Nguyen X. Nguyen, CEO for Cosemi, achieving ISF certification for its HDMI 2.0 AOCs up to 20 meters in length brings an even higher level of confidence to users. “Our goal is to bring the unparalleled benefits of fiber optics to a broader audience with our best-in-class AOCs,” noted Nguyen. “Being tested and certified by an independent third-party lab not only underscores the fact that our technology makes true 4K 60 4:4:4 UHD resolution a reality, but it brings further assurance that our AOCs remain reliable under intense conditions.”
Increased bandwidth capacity, faster speeds (up to 6 Gbp lane/18 Gb/s aggregate), longer distances (up to 100 meters), and greater security and reliability are all hallmarks of Cosemi’s HDMI 2.0 AOCs. The cables bring plug-and-play fiber optic connectivity to various devices in the home and workplace, allowing for higher bit depth, HDR, full wide color gamut, and frame rate video transmission with no compression. Cosemi’s AOCs easily handle the bandwidth required for full 4K transmission from the source, bringing the highest level of image clarity to bandwidth-intensive activities such as the newest Sony and Xbox 4K 60 HDR gaming consoles. The AOCs can also accommodate the highest bandwidth output setting of the 4K Apple TV. Cosemi’s patented hybrid cable technology offers a replacement for traditional copper connections, which cannot handle the speed and power required by new HDMI video standards.
In addition to being ISF-certified, Cosemi’s AOCs are UL, CE and FCC certified. Cosemi is a member of the HDMI Standards Organization, and all of its cables are manufactured using an ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
