Seattle, WA, April 23, 2018 -- ThriftBooks, the world largest online used bookstore, acquires books through public libraries and from local charities. Now ThriftBooks has expanded their business to offer these titles to correctional facilities in addition to their current consumer offering.

The ThriftBooks Corrections Library Program will offer high quality used books at up to 90% off new list prices.

Access to reading materials and education is especially important because studies estimate that illiteracy rates in prison populations run as high as 75%. Literacy New York reports that nearly 85% of juveniles who face trial are functionally illiterate, “underscoring the relationship between illiteracy and crime.”
