HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. and NEW YORK, March 05, 2018 -- Intelligent Product Solutions (IPS) today announced that the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City selected the AdhereTech Smart Pill Bottle for its “Access +Ability” exhibit, on view from Dec. 15, 2017 - Sept. 3, 2018. IPS, a subsidiary of Forward Industries and a leading product design and development firm, partnered with AdhereTech to design and develop the “smart” pill bottle that reminds patients to take their medication.
The Cooper Hewitt exhibit “Access+Ability” features more than 70 works from adaptive clothing and eating implements that assist with daily routines to apps and “smart” technologies that aid in social interactions and navigating the environment. Among the 70 designs, the AdhereTech Smart Pill Bottle was included. To increase medication adherence, the AdhereTech pill bottle can send a text message (to a patient or caregiver), light up, or play a song if patients forget to take their medication. Many top pharmaceutical companies and specialty pharmacies and hospitals currently use AdhereTech and these innovative smart bottles improve medication adherence by an average of 20%.
Among its many recognitions, the AdhereTech Smart Pill Bottle received the 2017 A’ International Design Award in the Medical Product Design category. The A’ International Design Award is a prestigious recognition given to top designs worldwide that demonstrate an exemplary level of greatness in design. In 2016, the Smart Pill Bottle received the prestigious GOOD DESIGN Award, the world’s oldest prize dedicated to the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial products and graphic designs produced around the world.
The Cooper Hewitt is the only museum in the United States devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design. It is located at 2 East 91st Street at Fifth Avenue in New York City.
