'Cobra Kai' Season 6 Release Date, Cast and Spoilers: All Things Fans Should Know By Now

Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming "Cobra Kai" Season 6.

“Cobra Kai” Season 6 is now in production, but it has been officially postponed, and it will be some time before the program returns to Netflix. The acclaimed nostalgia-filled sitcom's final new episodes were added in September 2022, and with no renewal announcement in sight, fans were apprehensive. Thankfully, Netflix authorized the show, and this season is being hailed as the "biggest" and "baddest" ever.

To begin, “Cobra Kai” is a spin-off of the popular Karate Kid flicks, starring many of the original cast members. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprise their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, respectively, more than 30 years after the previous film. They have different beliefs as fathers than they did as youngsters, but they still butt heads from time to time.

Since May 2023, when the sixth season was intended to begin production, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) has been on strike. The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) then went on strike in July 2023. Even if the scripts for the season were ready, the actors would not be filming right now. While fans wait for additional information, here is all we know so far about Cobra Kai Season 6.

Cobra Kai’ Season 6 Release Date

Unfortunately, no official release date for “Cobra Kai” Season 6 has been revealed by Netflix, per EpicFlix. Cobra Kai has been renewed for a sixth and final season on Netflix, which will premiere on January 20, 2023. The showrunners' involvement in another project, "Obliterated," which concluded filming in November 2022 and is set to be released in 2023, caused the delay in confirming Season 6.

While original speculation stated that “Cobra Kai” Season 6 will be released in late 2023, the closure of the writers' room could mean that the series will be postponed until 2024 or possibly 2025. Writers have promised to keep the rooms locked while conversations are taking place.

According to the creative team, all of the scripts for “Cobra Kai” Season 6 have yet to be written, therefore the show will not be able to wrap up production until the strike is over. Previously, new episodes were available to view around a year after they were filmed. While some Season 6 sequences were purportedly shot during Season 5 production, there were insufficient to cover an entire episode.

Cobra Kai’ Season 6 Cast

“Cobra Kai” Season 6 would be incomplete without our two characters, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). And they would be nothing without the two essential females in their lives, Amanda LaRusso (Courtney Henggeler) and Carmen (Vanessa Rubio), who is now pregnant.

Chozen Toguchi, played by Yuji Okumoto, and John Kreese, played by Martin Kove, will both return for “Cobra Kai” Season 6. Fans may not have seen the last of Terry Silver, played by Thomas Ian Griffith, who refuses to give up and now has nothing to lose.

Speaking of Karate Kid returns, Hilary Swank, who played Julie Pierce in The Next Karate Kid, may appear in “Cobra Kai” Season 6 as well. Then there's the cast of kids, led by Xolo Mariduea as Miguel, Tanner Buchanan as Robby, Peyton List as Tory, Mary Mouser as Sam, Jacob Bertrand as Eli or Hawk, and Gianni DeCenzo as Demetri.

Cobra Kai’ Season 6 Spoilers

Unfortunately, no official details concerning the plot of the upcoming “Cobra Kai” Season 6 have been revealed by Netflix. Most, if not all, viewers are aware that the series follows Johnny Lawrence as he attempts to rebuild his life after the events of The Karate Kid trilogy. To do this, he returns to his roots and trains Miguel Diaz, the first student of the new Cobra Kai. Daniel's passion is fueled by the emergence of Cobra Kai, his high school bully and a source of his pain, who has returned to torment him, pushing him to build his own dojo.

Fans saw Silver finally caught up in his sins prior to the official “Cobra Kai” Season 6 announcement, and his nasty attitude was eventually revealed to his students after he was found cheating during the All-Valley competition, and they all abandoned him. Kenny, on the other hand, who had turned from a sweet-natured geek to a cold-hearted bully under Silver's supervision, will undoubtedly bear the brunt of this punishment.

While filming for “Cobra Kai” Season 6 has yet to begin, Ralph Macchio recently told Deadline that, while he is aware of the primary plot arc for the sixth and final chapter, he has yet to see a script for it. He also talked about the highly awaited Karate Kid film, which will be a revival of the original film franchise and will be released in 2024.
