WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J., April 16, 2018 -- Coates International, Ltd. (OTC PINK:COTE) (the “Company”) is pleased to announce that our Hydrogen Project is nearing completion.
Company President and CEO, Mr. George J. Coates, comments: “Imagine being able to convert water to H2 or HOH for utilization as the sole fuel to operate electric power generators. Well, that is what we are working on at our headquarters in NJ. We have already operated CSRV® engines on Gaseous Hydrogen HOH, so we know it works. We have invested in four years of R&D on this Hydrogen Project and have conducted a number of experiments and tests. Gaseous Hydrogen HOH and H2 utilized as fuel for combustion engines cannot be used to power poppet valve engines for the following reasons:
- Gaseous Hydrogen does not contain any lubricity that would assist the No. 1 piston compression ring to last for the life of an engine. In fact, under full load, it can wear out in as soon as two weeks;
- Poppet valves have a major design flaw that renders the poppet valve engine unsuitable for operating on Gaseous Hydrogen. The poppet valve system incorporates a large overlap. This means that both the inlet valve and exhaust valve are open at the same time. This causes Gaseous Hydrogen to detonate resulting in frequent backfiring and poses a dangerous potential for a major explosion of the Hydrogen fuel.
- The Coates CSRV® engines do not have this defect and can operate on Gaseous Hydrogen flawlessly.
- Gaseous Hydrogen H2 and HOH have a tendency to explode at any time, even from static electricity. Storage of this fuel has proven to be a major task that has not previously been successfully achieved without the presence of a great risk of explosion.
Here at Coates International, Ltd., we have invented and designed a system that prevents Gaseous Hydrogen from exploding and backfiring, while also preventing any trace-back to the Hydrogen reservoir tank. Management believes that upon finalization of the project for this technology, it will be considered an unprecedented achievement for the use of Gaseous Hydrogen fuels in combustion engines and electric power generators.
New patent applications will be submitted for these new technologies shortly. We are also working with another company that is building a reactor for the final testing. Management is enthusiastic about the progress of the Hydrogen Project. We believe we are the only company in the world that has come this far with this new technology.”
There can be no assurance that the Company will be successful in any of its endeavors.
