The Cleveland Cavaliers will cover Bally Sports+ subscription streaming costs for Cavs United members with full or half-season tickets.
The NBA team’s move follows the nationwide US launch of the Bally Sports+ subscription service, priced at US$19.99 per month.
In addition, the Cavs will additionally pay for the subscriptions of foundation members and the team’s corporate sponsors.
Subscription streaming service Bally Sports+ provides access to the Bally Sports Ohio regional sports network (RSN), which holds the Cavaliers’ local broadcast rights.
Since acquiring 21 RSNs from Disney for a combined sum of US$10.6 billion in 2019, Bally Sports co-owner Sinclair Broadcast Group has drawn criticism for withdrawing regional coverage from other subscription platforms such as YouTube TV, Hulu, FuboTV, and Sling.
Bally Sports Ohio also holds the regional rights for NHL franchise the Columbus Blue Jackets and select games involving MLS club Columbus Crew.
