Chronicled releases blockchain-registered CryptoSeal for packaging and supply chain

San Francisco-based blockchain firm Chronicled has announced the release of CryptoSeal prototype, which is an all-in-one, tamper evident and blockchain-registered solution for packaging, physical asset tracking, and supply chain provenance.

The CryptoSeal allows customers to secure the content of packages and containers and ensures that equipment is not opened, modified and tampered with. The Chronicled platform allows registering the unique identity of the CryptoSeal on the blockchain and records any transactions that are generated by scanning and verifying it on an immutable ledger.

"You can think of the CryptoSeal like the old system of the King's Signet Ring stamping a wax seal on a letter. The signet holder is analogous to the registrant of the CryptoSeal, the wax to the chip inside of the seal, and the stamping of the signet is like the signing of the CryptoSeal to the blockchain,” Ryan Orr, CEO of Chronicled said, as reported by IBTimes.

The feature rich CryptoSeal has NFC support, seal tamper-proofing via visual features and electronic verification, cryptographic identity based on RSA, power-efficient and high-speed crypto coprocessor, browser support via NDEF, self-generation of secrets for no disclosure of private keys, among others.

CryptoSeal can be used in supply chain, trade finance, insurance, equipment integrity and warranty. The prototype is an innovative solution to ensure that content is genuine and to verify its provenance. With the help of CryptoSeal, customers can quickly deploy solutions for authenticity, provenance, and supply chain.

“CryptoSeals will begin entering the market late this year with standard offerings and unique solutions, with customizable sizing and adhesives, for clients,” the blog post stated.
