Chamber of Digital Commerce announces first event at DC Blockchain Center

The Chamber of Digital Commerce, a trade association representing the blockchain and digital asset industry, has announced the first event at the DC Blockchain Center, which will be held on November 30.

In September, the chamber partnered with technology incubator 1776 to launch the DC Blockchain Center. The center aims to serve as the entrepreneurial resource for technology providers and governments investing and innovating in blockchain-based technologies.

With the theme “Blockchain Technology & Structured Finance”, the event will explore the possibilities of blockchain technology in the securitization industry. Topics to be discussed during the event include the interplay between blockchain technology and structured finance; key characteristics of blockchain technology that may benefit different stages of the securitization lifecycle; and potential policy and regulatory challenges and considerations.

“The Structured Finance Industry Group (SFIG), the Chamber of Digital Commerce and Deloitte invite you to a discussion to explore the possibilities of blockchain technology in the securitization industry”, the online description reads.

SFIG is a member-based, trade industry advocacy group focused on improving and strengthening the broader structured finance and securitization market. It provides an inclusive network for securitization professionals to collaborate and, as industry leaders, drive necessary changes, be an advocate for the securitization community, share best practices and innovative ideas, and educate industry members through conferences and other programs.

This event will be followed by “Smart Contracts Symposium”, to be held on December 5, 2016 in New York.

Panelists include the likes of Kevin Batteh, Partner, Delta Strategy Group; Chief Policy Advisor, Chamber of Digital Commerce; Carol Van Cleef, Partner, BakerHostetler; Val Srinivas, Research Leader, Banking & Capital Markets, Center for Financial Services, Deloitte (moderator); Chuck Thompson, Blockchain Consulting LLC; Andrea Tinianow, Director of Corporate and International Development, State of Delaware; and Emmanuel Aidoo, Blockchain & Cryptocurrency Strategy, Credit Suisse.
