Cannabis Leader PharmaCielo (PCLO) Gears Up for Global Demand

The appointment of Andres Felipe Botero as Chief Operations Officer (COO) of PharmaCielo (TSXV:PCLO, OTC:PHCEF) is the latest indicator that the company—recognized as a premier cultivator and producer of medicinal-grade cannabis oils and extracts—is gearing up to feed global supply chains.

Botero--who has nearly two decades of domestic and international operational experience with industry giant Philip Morris International--joins the team at a pivotal time: The company just completed the necessary permitting process required to enable Colombia’s first commercial export and sale of non-psychoactive (CBD) isolate.

“Enabling product delivery to customers is one of the most exciting and memorable moments for any company, and we are thrilled about this accomplishment,” said David Attard, CEO of PharmaCielo Ltd. “This specific point in time not only distills the vision, hard work, dedication and commitment of our team, but also signifies the transition of PharmaCielo from a founding stage into a mature company with the infrastructure of production, distribution and sales operations that can deliver high-quality products to its clients.”

Attard says Botero's extensive experience in managing, streamlining and growing production capacity on a global scale “will be a great asset to the company and its business partners.”

Botero will drive the growth of PharmaCielo's production capacity in Rionegro, Colombia. Noted for its ideal growing conditions, Colombia has the legal framework and labor costs needed to make marijuana production profitable, reports Forbes. Additionally, Colombia boasts an export quota second to none – which represents more than 25 percent of the world’s total cannabis that can be traded worldwide.

In other company news, PharmaCielo announced recently it was acquiring Creso Pharma. According to Motley Fool, “This will allow the cultivator to turn its Colombian production into sales, give it a licensed Canadian production facility, and add established sales channels into 13 markets globally.”

More than 50 countries around the world have legalized some form of cannabis, says New Frontier Data’s founder Giadha Aguirre de Carcer. “The legal cannabis has truly gone global; even in the face of extensive prohibition, cannabis consumption grows, and attitudes and challenging perceptions about the typical cannabis user continue to shift.

“This social and cultural evolution has created a global market with massive potential for stakeholders across dozens of sectors beyond traditional plant-touching verticals,” Carcer adds.

While analysts eye global trends, PharmaCielo leaders are focused on making a positive impact in Colombia by establishing a foundation to provide financial and in-kind resources to advance the overall quality of life of current and future generations of Colombian citizens.

New COO Botero said of his appointment, “As a Colombian, it gives me great pride to join a company and an industry that have been leading great positive change and making valuable/significant contributions to the country's economy and social fabric."
