'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 6 Air Date, Spoilers: Why Should Fans Be Excited About the Upcoming Installment?

NBC's rescue of the Andy Samberg-led cop comedy from Fox's cancellation may have been a breath of fresh air for fans of the show, but the continued production of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6 was still not totally out of the woods.

While the show was confirmed to return with all-hands on deck, as well as having “Jane the Virgin's” Gina Rodriguez in negotiations to recur in her role as Det. Rosa Diaz's (Stephanie Beatriz) new love interest, one tiny detail stood out that kept fans from fully enjoying “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6's NBC renewal.

When NBC announced that they would be picking up “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6, the network initially went with a 13-episode order for the series. With the series usually having a full 22-episode order for its past seasons, the half-order from NBC did not sit well with fans.

The half-season episode count may mean that the network was either not yet confident about the show's performance or was accepting the fact that production had been delayed, which has forced “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6 to target a mid-season launch. If the reason for the low order count was the former, fans definitely would have had a good reason to worry about the show's future.

Thankfully, fans can now breathe a little easier as NBC recently ordered an expanded episode count for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6. The upcoming installment has received an order for five additional episodes. While no additional details have been provided regarding the reason for the additional order ahead of the show's premiere, the five additional episodes can assure fans that “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6 and its new network are looking towards the long-term viability of the series.

While NBC has yet to provide an exact date for the series's return, fans can hopefully look forward to watching “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6 sometime in 2019.
