Blocksafe network opens crowdsale for blockchain-based smart gun authentication system

Blocksafe network has launched its crowdsale in order to build first blockchain-based system to manage smart gun functionality on the blockchain in order to prevent unauthorized use of gun.

The Blocksafe network offers unsurpassed security and privacy to every type of smart gun hardware solution and guarantees ‘24/7 availability’ feature.

“Blocksafe has received strong interest from both blockchain and gun industry leaders, and it is currently embarking on a crowdsale until July 15 where it is looking to raise at least $55,000 to build the first phase of this unique and valuable technology,” Kevin Barnes, CEO of Smart Defense Technologies said.

According to the post by Barnes, the Blocksafe network will provide the infrastructure for smart devices and locks that mount on the gun. The network supports few features which include locating stolen guns; access to police chiefs and armed security executives to manage, locate, control and view activity of their employee's firearms in realtime 24/7; having a real time count on how many rounds are left in the magazine; enabling instructors in training centers and firing ranges to train in safer environments among others.

Explaining to cointelegraph.com about how the network will support lock solutions, Barnes said, “The owner will have a choice depending on the manufactured lock as how authentication is handled, such as biometrics, where all digita of a user are scanned using finger scan on the trigger lock , the fire arm grip or knowing a code to execute. The captured authentication data is compared to the authentication which is stored using encryption onto the local ledger of the device.”

In a LinkedIn post titled ‘Blockchain technology will make Smart Guns smarter,’ earlier this month, Barnes introduced Blocksafe - the world's first blockchain-based system to manage smart gun. Barnes further explained to cointelegraph.com about a communication feature, whereby the devices will communicate through the internet to the Blocksafe ledger in a secure manner.

“Once the device is connected to the Blocksafe network, it syncs the data from its local ledger. Then, only the owner can view the data via a smartphone app or www.ledger.host,” Barnes added.

Barnes uploaded a video on 5th June titled ‘Tired of gangs with stolen guns':

The crowdsale has so far raised $1,980 as per the daily update. The upcoming blockchain event to be held from July 18-21 at Las Vegas, will see Smart Defense Technologies speaking about Blockchain and IoT technologies.
