With the release date just a couple of months from now, the team at EA DICE decided it was time to host a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) and answer questions posted by fans who want to know more about the classes and combat roles in the upcoming first-person shooter game, “Battlefield 5.”
“Battlefield 5” multiplayer producer David Sirland, design director Danial Berlin, and senior producer Andreas Morell took part in the question and answer session.
The Recon, Support, Assault, and Medic classes have already been confirmed to be returning to “Battlefield 5” in a series of blogs earlier this week, and each class will have two combat roles at launch – one as default and another which can be unlocked by playing.
During the session, Morell said the Tanker and Pilot classes exist in “Battlefield 5,” but players will not be able to select these classes unlike the other four. Instead, players will get the chance to play the classes when they spawn on a vehicle. Unfortunately, customizing the visual look of the classes is not an option. However, players can customize their vehicles.
Morell also clarified that combat roles would not affect the choice of weapons players can use.
“If you play support and pick the machine gunner role you will be better suited to handle MMGs with the passive traits you have, but you are not limited to MMGs you can play with any support weapons you like,” Morell stated.
Meanwhile, Berlin confirmed that they would continue to make tweaks and improvements to some of the classes based on the “Battlefield 5” beta.
“We are looking into the ability for the medic to choose between the medic pouch and crate within the 1st gadget slot, and the same thing goes for the support - being able to choose between the ammo pouch and crate on gadget slot 1,” Berlin said.
