With 2020 causing a lot of people to be spending a lot of time at home, 2021 will be a year where many people are making changes all around their property to make it a more relaxing space where they can forget about their day to day stresses. Part of these changes will include their bathroom. Your bathroom is a breakaway place where you can relax, destress as well as look after your personal care. With this in mind, expect the trends of 2021 to incorporate all the above and turn your bathroom into a spa feeling bathroom that you can switch off, when inside. Below are some bathroom design trends for 2021.
Marble
Marble is a trend that has been around for years but is here to stay. A marble design looks clean, elegant and when done correctly very modern. Marble bathrooms look bold in style whilst keeping a natural look that provides a luxurious visual that you can be proud of. The intricate steaks within marble make for perfect floor tiles, or the polished off finish of the wall tiles allow for a brighter feel making your bathroom much lighter. From a practical point of view, marble is very durable and if looked after correctly can last many many years.
Lighting
In 2021 lighting is going to be even more important for your bathroom. Think oversized lights, crystal design, lighting that is going to be a centrepiece within your bathroom and make a statement. The good thing about lighting is that it doesn’t require you to completely redesign your bathroom to stay on trend. Plus, a good set of lighting can really change the feel and look of a room, and it doesn’t require a large budget. With the correct lighting, you can make your bathroom the perfect place to unwind and relax.
Smart Technology
As technology advances, you are going to see more and more smart devices being added to your bathroom designs. At a click of a button, you will be able to control certain aspects of your bathroom without even being in the room. Things to consider are smart bulbs that you can dim whilst in the bath, digital showers with an LED screen, mirrors that automatically de steam themselves or spa like showers to give you that relaxing feel in the shower. Smart toilets are even becoming a thing, no longer will you be telling your other half to put the toilet seat down - the possibilities are endless.
Block Bold Colours
The complete opposite to marble but is also becoming a trend of 2021 is the use of block bold colours. Add some personality to your bathroom with some strong colours that can be the same all around. Why not match your bathroom furniture with the design to bring it all together, or add some subtle colour changes to add a different dimension to the room. It may sound scary at first but once you’ve looked at a few visuals, you may fall in love with the idea. This can dramatically change the look of your bathroom, changing the feel of your home instantly, whilst also still feeling like a place you can relax in.
Back-Lit Mirrors
One of the most frequent changes to a bathroom is the change of the mirror. Depending on your bathroom, changing the mirror can be a quick change but one that instantly affects the dynamics of a room. A trend that is becoming more popular is to install bathroom mirrors that are back-lit. Having a backlit mirror creates a calming feel to the room, adds a focal point and can be used as a nightlight in the late evening. It allows your mirror to be a centerpoint of the room and the overall feel of the room can seem bigger.
When it comes to changing up your bathroom, make sure you take your time and think it through. Pinterest is a great place for some inspiration if you are not sure where to start. Your bathroom should cater for the needs of everyone in the household so some compromises may need to be made. Try and apply some of the trends above and see how it will fit in your bathroom design, it may be that only a few of them can be applied. If your budget doesn’t cover a whole redesign, some of the above are perfect for making a small change that has a big impact, such as changing your mirror and making it back-lit or adding some smart technology to the room.
What changes will you be making to your bathroom? Will you be following any of the trends above? Have you already changed your bathroom and benefited from installing something specific? Let us know in the comment box below, we would love to hear from you.
