Apple Vision Pro 2 Delayed to 2027, Aiming for Price and Tech Refinements

Apple targets 2027 for Vision Pro 2, focusing on improvements and affordability.

The launch of Apple Vision Pro was greeted with a succession of favorable evaluations, including OpenAI CEO and Microsoft executive Sam Altman, who was profoundly astonished by the product.

However, this does not imply that the product is flawless; in addition to the exorbitant price of $3,499, ordinary consumers are confronted with additional issues. The most recent report indicates that the successor will be available for at least 18 months, providing Apple ample time to implement refinements.

Apple Vision Pro 2 Launch Reportedly Delayed to 2027 Amid Pricing Concerns

According to Wccftech, Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts the Apple Vision Pro 2 will not enter mass production until 2027, assuming the pricing issue can be resolved. The less expensive model is expected to début in 2025.

However, Apple's rivals will release their augmented reality (AR) headsets before releasing new models to compete with the $3,499 head-mounted wearable. We will monitor these developments and ultimately focus on the Apple Vision Pro successor in a subsequent report; therefore, please remain vigilant.

Apple's Vision Pro Sequel: Balancing Expectations and Refinements for Next-Gen AR

Work on the Apple Vision Pro successor reportedly began before unveiling the original device during the company's WWDC 2023 keynote address. In contrast, before introducing the second iteration, the California-based behemoth must establish a specific sales benchmark for the current model.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg estimates that the absolute minimum between now and the release of a successor product is eighteen months, which leaves consumers with considerable time to wait.

A substantial duration between two product introductions may not be optimal. Still, it should enable many Apple Vision Pro units to amass adequate momentum in the United States. Furthermore, the augmented reality headset will also be available internationally before the commencement of WWDC 2024.

Likewise, the additional time should enable the organization and its proficient mixed-reality team to refine the second-generation headgear further in response to the criticisms lodged against the initial model.

Apple Inc. is probably at least 18 months away from launching a second-generation Vision Pro. Based on the early response to the first version, that may be a long time for some people to wait.

Vision Pro's Mixed Reality: Promising Future Despite Current Limitations

Since the Vision Pro debuted on Feb. 2, it's become clear that the mixed-reality headset is still a work in progress. Despite the dazzling demos — and generally positive reviews — it can be challenging to use on a daily basis. It's heavy. The interface doesn't always work smoothly. And it's hard to forget the fact that you paid $3,500 or more for this experience.

Vision Pro loyalists stress that the current model is only the first generation. It will get better in time. Don't forget, they say, that the original iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch had their quirks too. If the headset feels too heavy, you're wearing it wrong. The narrower-than-expected field of view and glare? That's normal.

The report needs to specify whether we can see the actual successor to the Apple Vision Pro or a cheaper model, as the two devices will be notably dissimilar. For example, rumors indicate that the more affordable headset will feature a downgraded display and chipset, utilizing an iPhone SoC rather than a Mac SoC. Furthermore, Apple will likely use fewer premium materials to reduce the price.
