MARKHAM, Ontario, April 17, 2018 -- Amfeltec Corporation announced today that the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) has allowed Amfeltec’s patent application (#14/683,147), entitled “Advanced PCI Express Board Assembly.”
The related product line is the Squid Carrier Board™ family. It is made up of the most unique one-slot-wide PCI Express boards on the market, where the carrier board is located in the middle of the PCI Express slot. This positioning provides optimal use of space: different modules (miniPCIe, M.2, etc) can be mounted on both sides of the 2U carrier board. The board itself can be plugged into any size motherboard PCIe connector, by using exchangeable male x1, x4, x8 or x16 PCIe upstream adapters.
“This is a major accomplishment for us. It is the result of our extensive research and development efforts over the last three years,” says Michael Feldman, President and CTO at Amfeltec Corporation. “Receiving this patent’s Notice of Allowance is a real pleasure, as it confirms the unique nature of our Squid carrier board family. We used complexity to create simplicity, and the result is truly unique – the smallest board of its kind on the market, giving the user more options than its competition.”
The Squid family presently consists of seven products in two groups:
- Half-size PCIe Carrier Boards for MiniPCIe modules
- Half-size PCIe Carrier Boards for M.2 PCIe SSD modules.
Amfeltec’s approach significantly simplifies carrier board cooling, and provides a more cost-effective and compact solution for multi-module applications.
