Adidas and Japanese fashion brand BAPE (A Bathing Ape) have once again joined forces to celebrate the vibrant world of Japanese streetwear. This collaboration aims to revive Adidas' iconic Stan Smith sneaker in honor of Bape's 30th anniversary.
Revamping the Classic
A press release revealed that in their latest endeavor, Adidas Originals and BAPE present two fresh interpretations of the archival staple, Stan Smith, as a tribute to the Japanese streetwear brand's remarkable milestone. Unveiled recently, these limited edition sneakers are available in white and camo, as well as black and camo colorways, as per The News Market.
Crafted with utmost attention to detail, the synthetic leather upper of the Stan Smith sneakers is made using 60% recycled materials. The tonal debossed and embossed solid camo pattern, well-known in the realm of BAPE, adds a distinctive flair to the design.
Gold foil co-branded accents grace the ABC camo heel mustache, while ornate 30th-anniversary jewels adorn the elegant laces. Throughout the silhouette, co-branded detailing can be found on the tongues and insoles.
BAPE's signature aesthetic meets the classic design of the Stan Smith silhouette in this collaborative endeavor. The synthetic leather upper featuring the tonal debossed and embossed SOLID CAMO pattern adds a unique touch to the iconic shoe. The ABC CAMO Heel Mustache is adorned with gold foil co-branded details, and the custom co-branded box adds a further touch of exclusivity.
A Nod to Japanese Streetwear
Honoring the rich history of Japanese streetwear, this collaboration masterfully brings Stan Smith sneakers to life through an imaginative campaign. The instantly recognizable shoes are showcased within an oversized cartoon-esque claw machine, infusing a playful element with a nod to Bape's creative approach.
The highly anticipated limited edition BAPE Stan Smith sneakers will be available for purchase starting on November 18. Sneaker enthusiasts can find the two colorways on CONFIRMED, select retailers, and BAPE.COM.
The Stan Smith Legacy
Since its introduction in 1963, the Stan Smith has consistently remained one of Adidas' most beloved silhouettes. Originally designed as a tennis shoe inspired by the former professional tennis player, it seamlessly transitioned from the courts to the streets, becoming a casual yet functional sneaker. Now, Adidas and Bape are breathing new life into this iconic silhouette with their latest collaboration.
