Gamers recently spotted a release date on the PlayStation Store’s God of War page. At the time, the page said that Kratos is coming back on March 22, 2018. The date has since been changed to December 31, 2018, but many are speculating that this may just be an attempt to cover up a potential announcement during the upcoming PlayStation Experience event.
One of the first to notice and post about the release date on social media is a Twitter user named Wario64. In his Tweet, the user included a screenshot of the PlayStation Store page indicating that God of War would be coming on said date. This sparked an immediate flurry of online activity, with many fans attempting to confirm if the story was true.

The fact that the game has been flying relatively under the radar since it was announced back in E3 2016 has starved dedicated players who have been itching to have the chance to control the god-killer once again. The developers have simply contented themselves to teasing fans, telling them to wait for more details because it’s going to be worth it.
As far as this recent leak is concerned, however, GamesRadar notes that this could have been more than an accident. Coordinating announcements can be complicated and with the upcoming PlayStation Experience that will be held on Friday, a release date reveal would involve giving various subsidiaries around the world a heads up.
With this in mind, it might have been easy enough for someone to make a mistake and accidentally push a button that they weren’t supposed to yet. A super excited GOW fan, perhaps? In any case, gamers will simply have to wait until the actual event if they want more information about the game. It’s a fair bet that Kratos will make an appearance during one of the presentations.
