FOUNTAIN INN, S.C., March 4, 2016 -- AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, will launch two new capacitor series, showcase its expansive portfolio of advanced passive solutions — including several new and significant series extensions, and contribute to the technical conference program at this year's Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC 2016), which will take place March 20 – 24 in Long Beach, Calif.
New AVX products slated for introduction at APEC 2016 include a series of next-generation, medical-grade tantalum capacitors that require much less voltage de-rating than any competitive offering and deliver both exceptionally low DCL values and extremely high reliability in a variety of medical implantable and life support devices, and a series of high-voltage, medium-power film capacitors that deliver intrinsically safe, high-reliability, and long-lifetime performance in AC/DC power converters, renewable energy inverters, rolling stock, and oil drilling applications.
Exhibiting at Booth #1536, AVX will also showcase several significant series extensions scheduled for market introduction in the weeks leading up to and immediately following the globally recognized event. These include new: high CV TWA Series COTS+ wet tantalum capacitors for high-reliability defense, avionics, radar, and power supply applications; high CV TWA-Y Series wet tantalum capacitors for avionics, industrial, and down-hole applications; F98 Series high CV tantalum capacitors for mobile and wearable electronics; THH 230°C Hermetic Series SMD tantalum capacitors for harsh, high temperature applications, like down-hole drilling; and new TCH Series hermetically sealed polymer chip capacitors for mission-critical automotive, avionics, aerospace, defense, and power applications.
In addition to promoting newly available products, AVX Technical Marketing Manager Chris Reynolds will contribute to the APEC conference program by delivering a technical presentation entitled "New Component Technologies Enable More Robust and Reliable Power System Design" during the IS19b industry session scheduled for Thursday, March 24, from 4:10 – 5:25pm in Room 202AB.
"APEC provides us with a fantastic annual opportunity to engage with critical members of the applied power electronics community, introduce the latest solutions we've developed to solve design issues common to the industry, learn what new challenges power systems design engineers are facing so we can develop next year's solutions, and participate in the many valuable educational and networking opportunities that the conference and expo provides," said Chris Reynolds, technical marketing manager, AVX.
