Five carmakers in South Korea are voluntarily recalling a combined 210,738 vehicles of 76 models to fix faulty components, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport said.
GM Korea Co., BMW Group Korea, Audi-Volkswagen Korea, Nissan Motor Co., and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (FCA) Korea has begun to provide or offer repair and replacement services.
Vehicle owners can contact repair and service centers to get free parts replacements. e
GM's Chevrolet Lacetti was found to have a faulty control unit for automatic transmission, while there was a flawed timing chain in BMW's 44 models and a faulty camshaft control system of Audi's A6 series vehicles.
It is the second recall effort by GM Korea in a month.
In November, the ministry announced that GM Korea, with Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors, Renault Samsung Motors, Mercedes-Benz Korea, and Daejun Machinery will recall a combined 163,843 cars in 19 models.
