‘Kong: Skull Island’ recently unveiled its newest poster at the New York Comic-Con. The poster looks like an ordinary map of Skull Island at first glance but it contains hidden secrets, specifically one that connects the film to ‘Godzilla’.
According to Comingsoon, a new poster for Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film was handed out to attendees during the recent New York Comic-Con. At first glance, it looked to be a grid map of Skull Island with the caption “Bring the Truth to Light.” However, putting the poster under a black light reveals more than meets the eye.
Under a black light, the poster is littered with notes from MONARCH, the top secret government organization in 2014’s ‘Godzilla’. The MONARCH logo sits at the top-left of the poster while the hidden imagery of a kind of lizard-looking creature with an elongated skull reveals itself.
Along the bottom of the poster is a scribbled note that reads, “His mouth is fire; his roar the floodwater; his breath is death. Enlil made him guardian of the Cedar Forest, To frighten off the mortal who would venture there. BUT WHO WOULD VENTURE THERE?”
According to Screen Crush, Enlil refers to a Sumerian god, who created a monster to guard the home of the gods called the Cedar Forest. The monster was given the name Humbaba. It is unknown whether the poster’s hidden image is Humbaba himself. It was also speculated that the monster may be Godzilla and that the hidden note may be implying that the kaiju originated from the same island as Kong.
Vogt-Roberts’ upcoming film will take place in the 1970s and stars Tom Hiddleston as SAS tracker Captain James Conrad. Brie Larson is set to co-star as photographer Mason Weaver. Rounding up the cast are Samuel L. Jackson, Corey Hawkins, Toby Kebbell, Jason Mitchell, and John Goodman.
‘Kong: Skull Island’ is an upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and written by Max Borenstein, Derek Connolly, John Gatins, and Dan Gilroy. It is produced under Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros.
The film is scheduled to premiere on March 20, 2017.
