‘Jane the Virgin’ Season 3, Episode 2 Spoilers: “Chapter 46” finds Jane, Rafael Struggling Over Parenting Mateo; Rogelio Crosses Over to American TV

‘Jane the Virgin’ season 3’s episode 2, entitled “Chapter 46”, will find Jane and Rafael struggling over parenting Mateo while Michael tries to return to a normal life following recovery from a gunshot. Meanwhile, Rogelio is set to cross over to American television.

The official synopsis for “Chapter 46’ posted on Spoilers Guide stated, “When Rafael (Justin Baldoni) finally admits that he is over Jane (Gina Rodriguez), their co-parenting style is tested when they argue over what the best preschool is for Mateo.  Xo (Andrea Navedo) is paranoid about Alba (Ivonne Coll) finding out her secret and what it will do to their relationship.  Rogelio (Jaime Camil) is ready to cross over to American TV, especially after he learns his nemesis is making the transition.  Meanwhile, “Anezka” (Yael Grobglas) is trying to find new dirt on Rafael when she begins an unexpected romance.”

The incoming episode will find Rafael and Jane struggling over being Mateo’s birth parents, especially when it comes to his schooling. This may be the least of Jane’s concerns especially that she and Michael are continuing to cope with the aftermaths of his shooting.

In the preceding episode, Michael is seen recovering from a risky surgery following his near fatal encounter in the season 2 finale. Jane is then forced to make some difficult decisions and coming to terms with how their newlywed life has started out. According to TV Line, executive producer Jennie Urman teased that although Michael has survived the shooting, he may face difficulties readjusting to normal life.

Urman said, “The healing and recovery from such a traumatic event is something we continue to play [with… It has lasting ramifications for the character, which you’ll start to see [in terms of] when he can return to work, if he can return to work, how his life is changed as a result of this. It takes him in a new direction.”

She continued, “I liked the idea of a newlywed having to live with her mom and grandma… Their relationship doesn’t have the traditional newlywed takeoff.”

Meanwhile, the upcoming episode will find Rogelio transitioning from telenovelas to American television beginning with perfecting his American accent. Despite his efforts and Michael’s help, it seems that his co-workers remain unconvinced.

‘Jane the Virgin’ season 3’s episode 2, entitled “Chapter 46”, is scheduled to premiere on The CW on October 24, 2016. The satirical romantic-comedy telenovela first debuted on the network on October 13, 2014 and has received critical acclaim since its release.

It stars Gina Rodriguez as the titular character Jane Villanueva. The 32-year old actress won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series, Musical or Comedy for her role.
