After months of speculations and tracking information leaks, Apple has finally unveiled the iPhone 13 series on Tuesday. Tech fans now have the full picture of their specifications and features, giving them enough time to decide what model to offer before the pre-order opens.
iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro specs
Same as last year, iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 share many similar technical specifications with their screen sizes as the most notable difference. The “mini” phone’s display remains at 5.4 inches while the other at 6.1 inches. They both have Super Retina XDR display but the smaller handset has a 2340 x 1080 resolution at 476 ppi and the iPhone 13 with 2532 x 1170 at 460 ppi.
The iPhone 13 Pro screens are a little more exciting because Apple confirmed they support ProMotion as mentioned in several reports. That means the iPhone 13 Pro with a 6.1-inch screen and the iPhone 13 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch display will support an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
All iPhone 13 models are, as expected, powered by the A15 Bionic chip. All four devices are rated IP68, which means they are water-resistant at a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes.
The rumored addition of sensor-shift stabilization across all models was also confirmed. The standard iPhone 13 models have a dual 12MP camera, while the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max feature a triple 12MP camera setup with telephoto, wide, and ultra-wide sensors. The LiDAR scanner is still exclusive to the Pro models. The four-device lineup does not have Touch ID and will still rely on Face ID.
One of the last leaks before the iPhone 13 event on Tuesday claimed that Apple will drop the 64GB storage option while adding a new 1TB variant. This was also confirmed at the Apple launch event. The iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB options. These three configurations are also available on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max with the addition of the 1TB storage.
iPhone 13 series release date
No one can purchase any iPhone 13 model yet, but pre-orders will start soon on Friday, Sept. 17, at 5 a.m. PDT. The starting prices are almost the same as last year: $699 for iPhone 13 mini, $799 for iPhone 13, $999 for iPhone 13 Pro, and $1,099 for iPhone 13 Pro Max. The 1TB model will cost at least $1,499.
