Robert Ladrech took his M.A. and PhD. at the University of California at Santa Barbara and taught in the U.S. before coming to Keele University. His research focuses on the relationship between party politics and European integration, with a particular interest in social democratic parties. He is also, more generally, interested in the impact of the European Union on domestic politics (Europeanization). In 2011 he completed a British Academy-funded project on ‘Social Democratic Parties and Climate Change’ and in 2013 was awarded a research grant by the ESRC for the project ‘Climate Policy and Political Parties’ . Professor Ladrech was a Visiting professor at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, from 2005 to 2016, where he supervised M.A. dissertations in the area of Europeanization studies. He is also a member of the executive committee of the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES).
