Georgia Volioti a Senior Lecturer in music at the University of Surrey. She researches musical performance using interdisciplinary approaches, including from psychological and educational perspectives. Her work, which is published in leading peer-reviewed musicological and music scientific journals and edited books, explores diverse topics such as the cultural reception, criticism and analysis of musical performance (mainly western 'art music'), the media and materiality of music technologies, listening practices, musicians’ learning, performance evaluation, and musical creativities. She is an advocate for music and the arts in society. As an educator, she is deeply committed to change for equity, diversity and inclusion in higher music education and academia. As a researcher and public speaker, she engages with stakeholders in the music industry, with creative practitioners, the wider public and academic audiences.
