I have a BSc and MSc in Materials Science and Engineering from Germany (both were awarded with the top student prize) and a PhD in Physics from Dalhousie University (my PhD thesis was awarded as the best PhD thesis in Condensed Matter and Materials Physics at the Canadian Association of Physicists Conference). As part of my PhD, I spent 4 months at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena collaborating with NASA's JPL on the discovery of thermoelectric materials. During my three postdoctoral positions (Department of Chemistry, University of Alberta; Department of Physics, McGill University; Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, McMaster University), I have learned different concepts in Chemistry and Physics. My (post-)doctoral research was awarded with multiple provincial/national awards/scholarships(/fellowships).
My research centers on the fundamental understanding of clean energy materials with focus on thermoelectric materials, quantum computations based on density functional theory, and ultrafast experiments (i.e., experiments on a time scale of a quadrillionth of a second).
