Associate Professor in Marine Ecology, Macquarie University
Jane Williamson leads the Marine Ecology Group, a research lab at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Her research interests are diverse. Her research interests focus on biodiversity and conservation issues associated with human impacts such as climate change, fisheries, and plastic pollution. She has a particular focus on sharks and other threatened species. Jane earned her PhD from the University of New South Wales. Jane is Deputy Chair of the NSW Fisheries Scientific Committee, a member of the Sydney Institute of Marine Science Scientific Advisory Committee, and a member of the Australian Marine Sciences Association. A recipient of several teaching awards, Jane is also heavily involved in curriculum development, and in interactions between universities and schools/industry/government regulators. She is Deputy Associate Dean for International and Corporate Engagement in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Macquarie University.
