David Smith is Lecturer in Media and Communication in the School of Media, Communication and Sociology at the University of Leicester.
David Smith was awarded a PhD in Social Sciences from Loughborough University in 2015. He then worked as University Teacher at Loughborough, before working as a researcher on the Horizon 2020 project TOXI-Triage.
His research interests lie primarily in political communication and journalism, particularly as they relate to social and political issues such as the mediation of immigration issues. In his PhD research, David analysed the coverage of such issues historically, charting their development within general election campaigning in the national press between 1918 and 2010.
