Daniel is a senior lecturer at Macquarie Law School where he teaches units in administrative law, human rights, refugee law and social justice advocacy. He is the founding director of the Macquarie University Social Justice Clinic, which provides students with hands-on legal experience on-campus. Daniel is also a practicing refugee and immigration lawyer. He is a Special Counsel at the National Justice Project, a volunteer lawyer at Refugee Advice and Casework Services, and operates a small pro bono immigration practice. His research focuses on comparative refugee and immigration law. He has a particular interest in the way restrictive asylum policies are spreading around the world. This is the subject of his new book, Refuge Lost: Asylum Law in an Interdependent World (Cambridge University Press, 2018)
