BOSTON, Oct. 26, 2017 -- Zipcar, the world’s leading car-sharing network, today announced the launch of a new mobility option in select cities for members who depend on a vehicle during the week to commute to and from work. The new weekday Zipcar offering provides unlimited, sole access to a vehicle and a parking spot Monday through Friday. Exclusive weekday wheels simplify the daily commute for urban dwellers who work outside of the city and offers an alternative to the high cost and hassle of car ownership and parking. The new offering is now available to current and prospective Zipcar members in Boston, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto and Washington, D.C.
The weekday Zipcar provides exclusive access to a dedicated vehicle from Monday at 5:00 a.m. to Friday at 7:00 p.m. for a monthly fee and per-mile rate. The cost includes gas, insurance, maintenance and cleaning, as well as a dedicated parking spot, eliminating the added stress of finding a space. Members simply scan in with their Zipcard any time after Monday at 5:00 a.m. and can use the vehicle and parking spot at their discretion until Friday at 7:00 p.m. Members also have access to any of Zipcar’s over 12,000 vehicles for weekend-use for standard hourly and daily rates.
“Offering dedicated weekday wheels follows our commitment to providing innovative mobility options for our members while continuing to enable more people to live without a personal vehicle,” said Tracey Zhen, Zipcar president. “We know that many city dwellers own a car solely to get to and from work, relying on walking, biking or public transit on the weekends. A dedicated weekday Zipcar is the perfect solution, enabling access to a vehicle when they need it and eliminating the stress of parking when they don’t.”
Zipcar provides its members on-demand access to a variety of cars in hundreds of cities, as well as colleges and university campuses, throughout 10 countries in North America, Europe and Asia. Zipcars are available 24/7 for reservation via Zipcar’s mobile app and website.
