AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 12, 2017 -- Xplore Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:XPLR) today announced that one of the largest Latin American police forces has placed an order totaling more than $1 million for Xplore XSLATE B10 fully rugged tablets, vehicle docks and accessories. The 10.1” Intel®-powered XSLATE B10 was the only rugged tablet solution on the market that could meet the law enforcement agency’s strict performance standards and ergonomic requirements.
“Like any public safety agency, this customer needs to be able to capture data, identify targets and respond to emergency calls very quickly. They can’t afford to miss key information, or stop what they’re doing completely, because their mobile device goes down in the middle of a call,” explained Mark Holleran, president and CEO of Xplore. “After extensive testing, the XSLATE B10 is the only rugged mobile computer they feel confident taking into the field. In tests of rugged tablets from three different manufacturers, the XSLATE B10 proved to be the most durable and most reliably-connected Windows®-based platform in the 10-inch category. It was also the most aesthetically-appealing tablet and docking system.”
The lightweight Xplore XSLATE B10 was the only rugged tablet tested that could be safely mounted into the customer’s Peugeot patrol cars. It was also the only mobile computer with an Intel Core i5 processor that could securely connect to the law enforcement agencies’ databases via built-in 4G LTE broadband and 802.11ac Wi-Fi data technologies. Once fully deployed, officers will use the XSLATE B10s pen, Glove and Wet touch, camera, voice and RFID scanner inputs to capture and record key incident data, such as license plate, auto ID and location information. The tablets are currently being installed in the customers’ fleet by Xplore partner Danaide.
“As this customer stated in a recent meeting, the XSLATE B10 will not just modernize their patrolmen’s capabilities, the original goal of this mobility project,” added Kirk Meyer, director of sales for Xplore in Latin America. “The Xplore fully rugged tablet solution will also protect their entire technology investment long into the future, especially when it comes time to expand their workflow application portfolio or make software adjustments in response to evolving data security regulations.”
The waterproof and dustproof (IP65 rated) XSLATE B10 is known for its core power, sunlight-readable display as well as its extensive security features and workflow flexibility. It is the only rugged tablet on the market to come standard with eight total I/O ports, many of which are sealed. It also boasts 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB SSD and up to 20 hours of power with a hot-swappable second battery option. It is also Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT and available with a spill-resistant Companion Keyboard with full travel tactile feedback for those who need a complete mobile office experience for more data-intensive tasks.
