There are several things to look forward to in “Westworld” season 3 such as a new Delos park and the exploration of the “real world.” Reported filming locations also suggest a big contrast between the two in terms of the settings that will be featured next.
Filming locations played a big role in narrating the escalation of the plot of HBO’s sci-fi series “Westworld.” Season 1 almost entirely revolved around the Old West-themed amusement park filled with life-like robots called the Hosts. As the hosts are awakened and gain consciousness, the introduction of more parks with various themes in season 2 became a necessity. “Westworld” season 3 now appears to exceed all that as it has already been filmed in several countries in different continents to signify the big changes coming up for the main characters.
‘Westworld’ season 3 spoilers: The ‘real world’ looks like Singapore
The Lion City was one of the anticipated filming locations for “Westworld” season 3. Various Instagram posts from cast members Jeffrey Wright and Evan Rachel Wood confirmed that they were in Singapore over the past week. This also makes sense since season 2 ended with Dolores (Wood) and Bernard (Wright) bound to the real world with their robot hearts filled vengeance.
“Westworld” season 3 is going to be the first installment to offer a substantial look into the world where humans live. Considering they have come at a time where AI-powered robots are a thing, one can assume the present timeline is well into the future. And the “futuristic” aspect of the real world is what makes Singapore the right place where to film some parts of the series, The Strait Times reports.
‘Westworld’ season 3 release date, plot: New world is not that far in history
The robots’ rebellion ultimately led to the destruction of Delos parks, but Delos Inc has not fallen yet. As mentioned in earlier reports, “Westworld” season 3 is likely having a new amusement park. But its theme is World War 2, so not as long ago as the Old West or the Edo period.
Information leaked on Reddit in early May that “Westworld” season 3 is set to film in the town of Besalú in Catalonia, Spain. A few weeks later, photos and videos obtained by Daily Mail confirm the report and show Thandie Newton and Rodrigo Santoro on set wearing WW2-themed costumes with extras wearing Nazi soldier uniforms.
HBO confirmed “Westworld” season 3 would not air until 2020. While production is definitely underway, there is a small chance that a specific premiere schedule will be announced this year.
