“Westworld” Season 3 will start filming this March decreasing the possibility of it being released in 2019. The second entry took seven months to complete its production and three more months for the post-production process.
If “Westworld” Season 3 is treated similarly, then an early 2020 release is the best bet for the sci-fi drama’s return. However, a new rumor is circulating on the web claiming that the third installment will be shorter than its predecessors, Revenge of the Fans reported.
While the first and second entries each had 10 episodes, “Westworld” Season 3 will supposedly have eight. The site didn’t disclose where they got their information from, only stating that it came from a “trusted source.” As such, it’s best to remain skeptical about this claim given HBO and other people involved with the series haven’t confirmed anything yet.
Regarding the exact production date of “Westworld” Season 3, the site contends that it will start on March 25. Furthermore, it’s claiming that the network might decide to push the release date to April 2020 to fill the void that “Game of Thrones” will leave behind.
And given that the high-fantasy drama will be ending this year, it would make sense for HBO to have “Westworld” Season 3 occupy that time slot. Of course, exchanging a fantasy series into a sci-fi one won’t be the same, but the overarching plotlines and complicated narratives are indeed there.
The problem is that show creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan may have overextended their hand with regards to using misdirection. Although the two managed to masterfully weave this storytelling technique in the first installment, they made the mistake of liberally using it in the second. Thus, fans and critics alike are hoping that Joy and Nolan will tone down in using misdirection in “Westworld” Season 3.
As for new faces appearing in the upcoming entry, “Breaking Bad” lead star Aaron Paul will be joining the ensemble. Unfortunately, it’s still unclear what role Paul is going to play in “Westworld” Season 3. But with production set to start this month, fans should expect more leaks about the third installment and what direction the showrunners are planning in the future.
