‘Westworld’ season 2 may see the shocking return of a character that has long been presumed dead. Meanwhile, Evan Rachel Wood talked about Dolores emerging as a “completely different” and “evolved” version of the character in the upcoming season.
According to Huffington Post, Luke Hemsworth dropped a bomb for the upcoming season hinting that his character Ashley Stubbs could still be alive despite being presumed dead for a while. Hensworth was asked about his character’s state to which he replied, “Physically? He’s well. He’s doing alright. Just taking a sabbatical”.
When asked if he knew more details for the incoming season, the 36-year old Australian actor replied, “Nothing. Its strength is its secrecy. A, I wouldn’t tell you if I did know. B, I literally don’t know.” When asked about what fans could expect, he answered, “It’s gotta be a step up, doesn’t it? So it’s gotta get more complex. If there’s any room for production values to get bigger—I don’t know how they’d do that—but I’m sure it will.”
Ashley Stubbs was a main character on HBO’s television adaptation of the 1973 science-fiction and western film of the same name written and directed by novelist Michael Crichton and produced by Paul Lazarus III. He was the Head of Security and worked mostly in the park’s control room.
In the episode, “The Well-Tempered Clavier,” Stubbs was alerted of a signal from Elsie’s device from somewhere in the middle of the park and found it suspicious. He ventured out into the park to investigate and was eventually attacked by a group of Ghost Nation hosts hiding from the trees. According to Digital Spy, these hosts refused to follow his command and he was prompted to pull out his gun to which he was tackled by one warrior.
Meanwhile, Evan Rachel Wood revealed during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that her character Dolores may emerge to be “completely different” in the second season. She said, “I’m really curious to see the unleashed version of her that we caught a glimpse of at the very end of the finale… Those final seconds, I think we were seeing a completely different side to her, completely different programming and completely off of her leash, so I don’t think she will be the same person; she’ll be an evolved version.”
‘Westworld’ season 2 is expected to return to HBO sometime in 2018.
