There is now an app that can make regular Play-Doh creations come to life called “Touch.” The app is only available for iOS devices and is incredibly pointless, but fun. For those who have always wanted to bring their dinosaurs or giant Kraken to life, this is your chance.
As children, molding Play-Dohs into any shape is one of the best ways to boost creativity, along with drawing or using the imagination. Thanks to the new app developed by Hasbro, all three things come together to provide children with even more options after they have already made their creations, PC Mag reports.
Users will have to create something with the material and then take a picture of it using the app. Once that’s done, the app will then create an approximate likeness of what was created, be it a dinosaur, crabs, or snakes.
After that, the creations will be transported into this clay world where everything seems to be made of Play-Doh. There, players can use their creations to jump on things or to modify their creations some more via the digital interface. It’s basically a way to sculpt Play-Doh further in a way that won’t leave hands sticky or create a mess.
The app is playable for free for those who already have a can of Play-Doh in their possession, Engadget reports. There’s also a neat set available for $40 called Shape to Life Studio set, which includes molds and cutters for more precise creations.
Users can play “Touch” without having to buy the Studio set at all, but they will only be limited to one world. By getting the set, they can unlock five more worlds, bringing the total to six. This allows children four years old and up to expand their horizons, even more, playing a game with creatures they created.
