The silence surrounding “Warcraft 3: Reforged” continue to persist as Blizzard remains mum about the matter. Last year, the company said that it will be available on Dec. 31, 2019, but every gamer knows this is merely a place holder date.
Amidst the silence, however, comes surprising news. Not, from Blizzard but from ShanghaiEye. Apparently, “Warcraft 3: Reforged” will make an appearance during the eSports Shanghai Master 2019 that is slated to take place two months from now.
“The 2019 #eSports #Shanghai Masters will take place at Jing’an Sports Center between Nov. 28 and Dec. 1. So far, its registered events include Dungeon and Fighter (#DNF) F1 World Championships and three new competitions in Overwatch, #Warcraft III Reforged and League of Legends,” the tweet read.
Warcraft 3: Reforged tournament and the big names in the scene
Players from China, U.S., Europe, Japan, and South Korea will be invited, with the tournament holding a $700,000 prize pool. It’s still unclear who exactly will be summoned for the “Warcraft 3: Reforged” competition but it’ll likely feature prominent names like Moon and Happy, as well as up and coming stars like 14Sui.
The remaster is in dire need of support from the community as Blizzard may be hoping to push the RTS title to the forefront of the Esport scene. The WGL Summer 2019, for instance, only had a $30,000 prize for its winner, a drop in the bucket compared to other games that are shelling out millions of dollars for its best players. If “Warcraft 3: Reforged” is to pave the way forward for this franchise, the change needs start within the community.
Warcraft 3: Reforged may be released in this year’s BlizzCon
Apart from the tournament, the Shanghai Masters will reportedly host an Esports business conference, fans gathering, and a video art show. The discussion of the business conference will revolve around two things: three values in Esports and four areas that are linked with the scene, The Esports Observer reported. The latter will likely delve on the evolution of the gaming landscape and the changes that it’s going to see next year what with AMD, Nvidia, and Intel battling it out this year. As for the release date of “Warcraft 3: Reforged,” it’ll likely come out in during this year’s BlizzCon that will start on Nov. 1.
