Walmart Inc. broadens its portfolio with a unique pet services hub, combining grocery shopping convenience with essential pet care, emphasizing affordability and streamlining the pet parent experience.
Given this, CNBC reported that Walmart is diving deeper into the pet care business and has opened a dedicated pet services center. This move shows that the company is setting up a place where customers can also avail of veterinary and pet grooming services within its establishments.
Walmart is looking to create a place where customers may go grocery shopping while their beloved pets are being groomed or checked by a veterinarian. The retail giant said on Wednesday, Sept. 20, that this first-of-its-kind pet center has initially opened at its store in Dallas, Georgia.
Moreover, with the launch of its new pet center, the American retail corporation is simply building on its traditional pet business. For decades, it has been selling pet items, including dog food and toys, under its private label Ol' Roy. And now, it has built a new facility to offer pet grooming and wellness checks.
Walmart is expanding its pet care line as the pet industry in the U.S. is currently a lucrative business. The firm also stored up stocks of the best pet medications in its Walmart pharmacies for its new pet center.
The new pet hub may be located at Walmart's store, but it has its dedicated entrance for customers. While the place bears the Walmart label, the facility is run by staff from PetIQ, a known vet care and pet product firm.
"We know that pet services are essential for pet parents, but for many, the experience can be costly and disjointed," the company said in a press release. "At Walmart, we have an opportunity to help our customers save precious money, time and effort by offering a destination for pet services at the same place they purchase their pet food and supplies.*
Walmart further stated, "Walmart Pet Services in Dallas, Georgia will offer low, transparent pricing for key pet services in a central location within a dedicated storefront. Services will be offered at Walmart's Every Day Low Prices, including routine veterinary care (vaccines, wellness exams and minor medical services), grooming (baths, nail trims, teeth cleaning, ear cleaning and basic hair trims), and a self-serve dog wash."
