With the combination of teaser trailers and the show's appearance at the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con, it has been confirmed that “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 11 will be airing in November. It’s also been hinted that this latter half of the season will see the deaths of several major characters. Ivar the Boneless (Alex Andersen) might meet a gruesome end by the time this season wraps up and the same could be said about Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick).
Based on the details shown in the “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 11 announcement trailer, a few things stand out. One is the fact that Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) is coming to take Kattegat back from Ivar, and based on the comments by Alex Andersen himself, the battle could end in the latter’s death.
The actor made the statement during the SDCC, saying that Ivar is angry that Lagertha was able to escape, Express reported. He also pointed out the irony that Ivar is now in charge of a city when he himself has no self-control. This must have been the reason why Ivar’s brother Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) was shown in the trailer to have sided with Bjorn before the battle to retake Kattegat. This likely won’t be in “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 11, though.
Other than Ivar, there’s also a good chance that Lagertha is not going to survive this season. As CarterMatt recently reported, the actress playing the beloved character, Katheryn Winnick, recently signed on to become part of a new show on Netflix. The show is called “Wu Assassins” and the premise is about martial arts and the supernatural. She will still be around when “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 11 premieres.
On the other hand, it’s a good indication that the actress is now ready to leave the series and start on a new project. “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 11 is scheduled to air on Nov. 28 on History.
