“Vikings” Season 5 Episode 11 is expected to open up in an explosive fashion given how the previous half of the installment ended. But the whole second half of season 5 itself will be even more mind-blowing as the civil war has now boiled over to its tipping point, Express reported.
Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) is now in control of Kattegat but the ruthless marauder is quickly descending into madness. This degeneration is frustrating some of Ivar’s followers, including his brother Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø), which will possibly be showcased in “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 11.
But it seems that Hvitserk isn’t just tired of his brother’s erratic behavior. He may be looking to betray him and take control of Kattegat himself. This is certainly a possibility since Ivar doesn’t have a wife or a child to inherit his position if he gets killed, which means Hvitserk is next in line in terms of power succession. Of course, this betrayal is unlikely to happen in “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 11.
The showrunners still need to build tension between the characters even though there’s already enough of it established. Ultimately, however, Ivar will fall one way or another and even Andersen himself gave a hint that this will indeed be the case. During his appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, the actor said: “Let’s make a guy who can’t control himself control an entire city.” This comment suggests a bad ending for Ivar but the details of how exactly that ending will unfold are still unclear and fans will have to wait for “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 11 to air in order to find out.
Another candidate that will see Ivar’s demise is Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig). Last season saw the raider traveling with a huge army seemingly hell-bent on taking Kattegat from the hands of Ivar. The trailer for the next installment saw a lot of battles between the opposing factions, and “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 11 will set the stage for how this conflict will conclude. The next half of the season is slated to premiere Nov. 28 and fans should be ready for a lot of bloodbath coming their way.
