“Viking” Season 5 is expected to feature heavy bloodshed as the civil war is now boiling over. And with Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Anderson) ruling Kattegat, the brutality will be even more pronounced in the upcoming installment, Express reported.
Ivar has been portrayed as someone who is erratic, murderous, and downright chilling. While these traits made him the king of Kattegat, it will also be the reason for the character’s demise. “Vikings” Season 5 is set to have Ivar lose his position and also his head.
Plagued by enemies both within and without, the mad ruler of Kattegat will have no choice but to welcome the challenge of those who want to oust him. Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) is the most desirous of seeing Ivar put six feet below the ground. The trailer for “Vikings” Season 5 features a lot of battles, with Bjorn always at the vanguard.
But it isn’t just Bjorn who wants to see Ivar dead. Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) seems to be growing weary of his brother’s madness as well. And with Ivar not having a wife or a child, Hvitserk is directly next in line in terms of power succession.
While Ivar has been portrayed the way he is, he is still receiving a lot of support from the show’s followers. The main reason for this is Anderson’s acting ability, with his performance praised time and again for how he manages to breathe life into the character he plays. But the support of the fans will not be enough to protect Ivar as he’s most likely going to die in “Vikings” Season 5.
Indeed, even Anderson himself hinted at this fact. “Let’s make a guy who can’t control himself control an entire city,” the actor said during his appearance at the SDCC. Although not necessarily revealing the character’s fate, the statement doesn’t bode well for Ivar the Boneless in “Vikings” Season 5.
History isn’t always kind to brutal rulers. And with the show inspired by what really happened in real life, Ivar’s demise is pretty much sealed at this point. “Vikings” Season 5 is set to return on Nov. 28.
