Uber launches its reindeer sleigh rides service in Finland. This is the first-ever on-demand ride that will take customers on a two-hour trip around Santa Claus’ hometown in Lapland.

Uber Sleigh has been described as a “winter-festive” ride, and it will be offered for a very limited time to riders in the area. The best thing about this experience is - it is free!

According to Fox Business, people can book an Uber Sleigh from Dec. 12 to Dec. 18 with two slot schedules - 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. only. Travellers can make the booking through the ride-hailing company’s app. Once the riders board the reindeer-pulled sleigh, they will be given a blanket for the ride.

Passengers can enjoy a two-hour ride across the snow-covered forests of Lapland. They will be given a tour of Rovaniemi, Santa Claus’ hometown, which is also the capital of the said Finnish northernmost region.

Uber’s vice president and general manager of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) mobility, Anabel Diaz, told Fox News Digital via a statement that their Uber Sleigh rides service will offer a "once-in-a-lifetime tour of one of the most beautiful places on earth" to travellers.

"At Uber, we are always looking at ways to bring a little magic to every trip with just the tap of a button," Diaz said. "We are delighted to bring Christmas dreams to life with the launch of Uber Sleigh in Lapland."

The Uber Sleigh rides are being offered as visits to Lapland are expected to soar by 46% this year, especially with the relaxed COVID-19 restriction for travellers worldwide. It should be noted that this experience that will surely magnify the holiday spirit is first-come, first-served basis, so it is advisable to book ahead of time.

Travel + Leisure reported that while the ride on a sleigh with reindeer is already exciting, riders can also enjoy other things in Finland. Beyond the sleds, there are many festive activities in the country that cannot be missed such as the viewing of the Northern Lights and visiting wood-fired saunas to relax.
