The 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump is doing exactly what he said he would do throughout his campaign. Arrays of executive orders are flying out of the oval office on the very first week of Mr. Trump as the President. Since Monday, Mr. Trump has signed some pretty significant executive orders including, United States’ withdrawal from Trans-Pacific Partnership deal, Keystone XL pipeline and Dakota Access pipeline.
The first one would withdraw the United States from multilateral trade deals as the President has vowed to work more towards bilateral trade deals, which would be fairer. During his campaign, he described these multilateral trade deals as job killers.
The other two are oil pipelines. The Keystone XL pipeline would connect Canada’s heavy crude producing Alberta region to refineries in Illinois and Texas. The Dakota pipeline is expected to end the railroad dependence of oil and connect North Dakota to Illinois. It is seen by many as crucial to the country’s energy independence.
While signing the executive orders, Mr. Trump said that there would be renegotiations on some areas and insisted that the pipelines be built by American hands using pipes made in America.
