U.S. healthcare sector growth surges in November, remains faster growing sector

Healthcare sector in the U.S. continues to be the most rapid growing sector in November. The November data hinted at a further surge in the sector, according to the U.S. Sector PMI. Although down a bit on the previous survey period, the growth was the second most rapid since the beginning of 2017, and the most rapid on the seven monitored sectors for the second straight month.

In the meantime, growth momentum decelerated in the industrials and basic material sectors. The rise in production among industrials firms slowed to a seven-month low but was solid in all. Basic materials companies noted the softest upturn since June, and one that was the slowest in all among the monitored sectors. Similarly, technology companies showed a softer rise in activity. The rise in output was moderate overall, with the pace of growth dropping to the slowest in the current eight-month sequence of growth. Consumer goods firms also noted a softer growth in output.

Consumer services and financials sectors were the only two that saw a faster rise in output. The former hinted at a solid growth in activity, with the pace of growth accelerating to a five-month high. However, financials output growth was only marginal overall and the second softest since January.
